CELEBRATING RURAL LIFE, LOCAL FLAVOURS & COUNTRY TRADITIONS at the Northumberland County Show 2025

Saturday 24th May 2025 marks the return of one of Northumberland’s most anticipated annual events – the Northumberland County Show. Taking place at Bywell, near Stocksfield, the show signals the start of the county’s fantastic summer season with a full day of countryside celebrations, live entertainment and hands-on experiences for the whole family.

As the first major agricultural show of the summer calendar, it’s the perfect way to enjoy the May half-term and discover everything that makes Northumberland’s rural culture so special.

A CELEBRATION OF NORTHUMBERLAND’S COUNTRYSIDE

Drawing crowds of over 30,000 people each year, the Show is a celebration of farming, local produce, rural skills and community spirit. With more than 300 trade stands, packed arenas, live performances and animal encounters, the show provides a brilliant opportunity to experience Northumberland’s rich agricultural heritage firsthand.
From champion livestock and award-winning cheeses to blacksmith demonstrations and vintage farm machinery, the Show proudly honours the people and practices that keep the rural heart of Northumberland beating strong. There’s also a variety of food and drink options, shopping, music and children’s entertainment to keep everyone entertained.

LIVESTOCK, EQUINE DISPLAYS & WORKING ANIMALS

The Show’s centrepiece is always its livestock competitions, where farmers present their best cattle, sheep, pigs, alpacas, goats and rabbits. You’ll also see stunning horses on parade – from elegant show jumpers to powerful heavy horses in all their finery.

ENTERTAINMENT, ANIMALS & LIVE MUSIC

There’s plenty to see and experience beyond the farming livestock. The main arena will host the thrilling BROKE FMX riders, featuring stunt riding and heart-stopping tricks. Animal lovers can also visit the Aldabra giant tortoises, enter the dog show, or watch the charming Mini Pony Show.
Entertainment continues across the day with a packed programme of live music and local talent. From the toe-tapping rhythms of community bands like Tyne Valley Big Band to the dynamic Rock Choir and the entertainment from the Biking Vikings, there’s something for everyone. Local dancers from Studio K also bring energy and colour to the day’s festivities, ensuring the show buzzes with sound and celebration.

FOOD, CRAFT & COMPETITION

No County Show would be complete without hearty fare, and the “Taste of the North” marquee is the place to savour artisan breads, cheeses, chutneys, meats and more — all produced in Northumberland and the surrounding regions. Meanwhile, the craft tent brims with handmade gifts, artwork and homewares, perfect for a unique souvenir.
Don’t forget to browse the competitive sections, where locals showcase talents in everything from home baking and jam making to creative crafts and children’s displays. For those feeling brave, there’s even traditional tug of war and wrestling!
