Northumberland Bonfire Night & Fireworks Displays 2025

November in Northumberland brings one of the county’s most popular autumn traditions — Bonfire Night. Communities across the region gather for fireworks, bonfires, and family-friendly celebrations, and with our cottages based in Northumberland, there’s always a local display nearby. From larger town events to smaller community gatherings, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Staying in one of our Wooden Star Cottages means you’re perfectly placed to experience the evening, whether you prefer a lively display in Hexham, a cosy village celebration in Blanchland or Bellingham, or a show with a historic backdrop.

Hexham Fireworks Display

Hexham’s annual display in the Sele Park is one of the most popular in the area. In 2025, the event takes place on Saturday 8th November at 7pm. Families can enjoy a fantastic and colourful fireworks show, food stalls, and music in a lively, family-friendly atmosphere.

The Sele Park is right in the town centre, making it easy to reach on foot from nearby streets, cafés, and restaurants. For those driving, there are several public car parks within a short walk of The Sele Park, including Wentworth Car Park (NE46 3PD) and Tyne Green Car Park.  Arriving early is recommended to secure a spot and avoid the busiest periods.  Hexham is well served by public transport with the train and bus stations a short 5-10 minute walk.

Being in the town centre also makes it perfect to combine the display with a meal or drinks in Hexham before or after the fireworks. The event is free to attend, though donations are welcome to support next year’s display and local charities. It’s a great way to experience one of Northumberland’s most-loved autumn traditions without travelling far from your cottage.

Blanchland Bonfire & Fireworks

The picturesque medieval village of Blanchland hosts its annual Bonfire and Fireworks Display on Saturday 1st November 2025. The bonfire will be lit at approximately 6:30pm, with the fireworks following shortly after. It’s ideal for guests staying in Slaley, Hexham, or nearby cottages who prefer a cosy yet lively atmosphere for families and community celebrations.

Organised by Blanchland Village Hall, entry is free, but donations are welcomed at the gates.  Funds raised support the Village Hall building, the children’s play area, and next year’s display. Hot food, sweets, and drinks are available from 5pm at Blanchland Village Hall (please take cash)

Parking is available at Shildon Road Car Park (DH8 9SS) and Baybridge Public Car Park (DH8 9UB), with disabled parking at Blanchland Village Hall Car Park (DH8 9UA). Visitors are encouraged to arrive early, as spaces fill quickly.

Twice Brewed Inn – Hadrian’s Wall

If you’d like to celebrate on the official date of November 5th, the Twice Brewed Inn along Hadrian’s Wall is a great option. Gates open at 5pm, the bonfire is lit at 6pm, and the fireworks begin at 6:30pm.

The event includes live music, family-friendly food and treats, and plenty of space to enjoy the display. Guests can enjoy street food stations around the pub, book indoors for a full meal, and pick up children’s flashing toys and sweets.

This venue is ideal for families staying north of Hexham around the Hadrian’s Wall / Northumberland National Park area, and it offers a unique and welcoming atmosphere for groups of all ages. Bringing a torch is encouraged for walking to and from the overflow parking.
