Both of the popular towns are right on the doorstep of a number of our Wooden Star Cottages, so you’ll be able to shop with our beautiful small businesses until your heart’s content. To make sure you don’t miss any, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourites that we think are a must-visit while you’re staying with us.

COGITO BOOKS 
A true book lover’s dream, Cogito Books is a picture-perfect bookstore filled with carefully curated books for all to enjoy. The store is based on St Mary’s Chare, just a short walk away from our Hexham House Apartments, and inside you’ll find expert booksellers who will help you make the perfect purchase.
 
MATTHIAS WINTER 
If you’re looking for a memento to remember your trip, you should definitely make a pitstop at Matthias Winter. The beautiful eco-home store and gift shop not only has a huge stock of items from homeware to beauty products, but also favours eco-friendly suppliers and even has its own refill stations. Find the store on Hallstile Bank, one of the main shopping streets in Hexham.

ARTFUL 
Artful is an art gallery and gift store with wonderful pieces created by the businesses’ owner Kelly Morgan and a number of handpicked local artists. THE GRATEFUL BREAD COMPANY 
Family-run artisan bread makers, The Grateful Bread Company are based in the heart of Hexham on Market Street. They specialise in delicious sourdough bread, which makes the absolute best toast (if we do say so ourselves!) The perfect pitstop on a morning’s walk while staying at our Wooden Star Cottages.

VINTAGE AT THE TOWER  
Just off the centre square, Vintage at the Tower is a must visit for those stunning vintage finds that have lasted the test of time. Whether you’re looking for a classic leather handbag or some antiques for the home, it’s definitely worth making a stop at Vintage at the Tower. (Based on Hill Street.)
ACANTHUS

FORUM BOOKS
