Our four-legged fluffy friends are as much a part of the family as anyone else, which is why we think they deserve a holiday too! That’s why on a number of our property listings you’ll see our little dog icon to indicate that well-behaved pets are welcome.
Here’s a list of our pooch-friendly properties, if you’re looking to travel alongside your furry friend this Summer.
Shellbraes Farmhouse and Shellbraes Studio
The Shellbraes Farmhouse is the perfect place to visit with your pet. In the middle of the great Northumberland countryside, your pet can have just as much of a holiday as you with endless walks, hikes and woodland to explore.
The property also boasts an enclosed lawn and patio area, perfect for letting your pet roam free while you sit back and relax.
Where to visit locally:
You’re also only a short drive away from the lovely Errington Coffee House where you can enjoy some delicious food and even a few dog biscuits from this dog friendly cafe.
If you’re looking for a pub atmosphere as well as enjoying a good old fashioned beer garden this Summer, then head into Ponteland and pay a visit to The Blackbird. The pub is dog-friendly and has endless great reviews for its top notch menu offering.
Where to Walk:
Talk a stroll around Aydon Castle and enjoy some history with your pooch by your side. It’s only a 13 minute drive to the castle and there are numerous trails to explore which will also take you through the Roman village of Corbridge where you can visit the excellent stores, cafes and activities on offer.
The Byres
Nestled in the rolling hills of the Northumbrian countryside and within the Northumberland National Park, if you’ve got a pet that loves to explore on a walk, you’ll be completely spoiled for choice with The Byres.
The property also offers a shared courtyard with seating for two and additional space for your dog to have a good sniff around!
Where to visit locally:
After completing some adventurous walks with your furry friend, head into the small village of Bellingham to the dog friendly cafe attached to the Fountain Cottage. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner options and are only a 5 minute drive from our Byres properties.
Where to Walk:
The Byres is only 20 minutes away from Kielder Water, which offers many amazing walks for you and your pet. Take a stroll around one of the biggest man-made lakes in Northern Europe and explore one of their stunning trails around the park.
Charlton Gate
With private gardens and overwhelming views, our Charlton Gate property will be a wonderful spot for your pet to enjoy.
Where to visit locally:
If you’re looking for an evening meal in a pub or restaurant, just 15 minutes in the car will take you to the William De Percy. The award-winning food offering is well worth a visit and the pub even has a homely dog section so your pet is just as comfortable as you.
An even shorter distance away are Falstone Tea Rooms. Renovated from a Victorian school, here you can enjoy a spot of tea with your pet before visiting the community shop, craft gallery or picking up some info at the tourist information centre.
Where to Walk:
Hareshaw Linn is only a five minute drive from Charlton Gate, and is perfect for you and your pet to enjoy. From deep forests to beautiful waterfalls, your pet will enjoy a sensory extravaganza with all of the fantastic sniffs, sights and sounds on offer.
Hollin House
Hollin House is one of our newer properties and of course is pet friendly. With five bedrooms and large open living spaces, there’s plenty of room for your dog to roam before you set off for the day.
Where to visit locally:
If you’re looking to do a spot of shopping and get something to eat, then Otterburn Mill is the place for you. It’s just under a 15 minute drive to the shop and cafe and the whole premises is dog friendly, so you can even treat yourself and your pet to some new accessories.
The Coach House restaurant is also a 15 minute drive away from Hollin House and is pet-friendly too! Whether you enjoy a meal inside, or nip in to order from their takeaway service, your pet will definitely be looked after by the restaurant’s fantastic team.
Where to Walk:
Otterburn Ranges is used to train over 30,000 soldiers per year across its endless landscape. It’s a fantastic place to walk but make sure to keep your dog on a lead so that they don’t disturb the wildlife.
The Steadings
If you’re looking for a relaxing walking holiday with your pet or pets then the Steadings is the property for you. The cottage allows for one or two well behaved pooches and offers a stunning rural location for you and your pets to explore.
Where to visit locally:
The dog-friendly Boe Rigg restaurant is right on your doorstep and you can head there for all your favourite dishes including a full English breakfast.
Or, if you fancy going a little further afield try the Holly Bush Inn. It’s dog friendly and if you fancy the walk with your pet, it’s only 40 minutes away from the property on foot.
(PS. Make sure to visit the secret beer garden at the back of the inn, it’s a stunning space with views across the fields of Northumberland)
Where to walk:
The Steadings property is surrounded by Northumberland National Park, but a great walk in particular is Kielder Forest. At only 25 minutes drive, you and your furry friend can take a wonderful walk while you take in the sights and art displays dotted around the trails.
