Now, as we move into the Winter months, we know nothing is more appealing than cosy catch-ups over a few drinks in a good old English pub, which is why we thought we’d list our Hexham favourites.
The Boatside Inn
Just a bit out from Hexham town centre, you will find the welcoming Boatside Inn. Known for its spacious and comfortable interiors as well as its friendly staff and tasty food. The pub has a long history as an alehouse dating back to 1782. With cosy nooks, a snug area and even a Winter teepee on offer, there are plenty of spots to enjoy the pub’s cask ales, lagers, bottled beers, as well as some specialist gins and whiskeys.
The Heart of Northumberland
If you’re looking for a taste of some local beers then The Heart of Northumberland is for you. The place was semi-derelict and closed for years before getting a new lease of life as new owners took over and brought back that classic warm pub feel. Now, when you visit The Heart of Northumberland, you can enjoy a modern menu made up of locally sourced ingredients, sample their ever-changing keg of craft ale and also bring your furry friend along as the full venue is dog-friendly.
The Victorian Tap
Picture yourself with a craft ale, or wine in hand in front of a log burner in a leafy Northumberland village knowing your bed for the night is just a short journey away. Well, you can have all of this when you visit The Victorian Tap. Make sure to add to your experience by checking out their full range of entertainment while you’re there too, including Live Music Sundays and Pub Quiz Thursdays.
The Tannery
After shopping around or a big walk with the dog, stop by The Tannery for your favourite beer, cocktail or spirit. They often hold quiz nights and have live music that will make sure you’re dancing by the end of the night.
Mr Ant’s Bar
Mr Ant’s is a family run bar in the centre of Hexham where you can have all your favourite cocktails in a cool, lively setting. Whether you’re an Espresso Martini lover or partial to a Daiquiri, Mr Ant’s has you covered. They also hold cocktail making parties where you can enjoy your cocktail while learning how to make it back at home!
The County Hotel Pub
If you’ve come along with the dog and are visiting Hexham, the County Hotel Pub is dog friendly so you can enjoy your pint with your four legged friend. The modern bar has a range of locally made ales as well as gins and whiskeys. Their cocktail menu has all the familiar items but if you don’t see your drink on there, the team is happy to get creative and put their skills to the test!
The Globe Inn
Football on and looking for a pub to watch it in? Then The Globe Inn is where you should be heading. Supplying all the live sport you could need from Sky Sports and BT Sports so you can be sure not to miss a game while you’re out and about in Hexham.
