Corbridge Village is a very popular spot set in the Tyne Valley built above a stunning section of the River Tyne. It’s easily accessed from Newcastle by road and train with the airport just 20 minutes away. Rarely do you find such a beautiful spot with so much choice for shopping and dining…
There are plentiful art, gift and home shops that you can mooch around for hours. Local artists have made Corbridge their home Alex Clarke being one of it’s most famous. Her shop in the Market Place is treasure trove of her work and pieces from many other local artists.
For the Love of the North can be found on the opposite side of the Market Place in a beautiful shop full of Northumberland art and crafts and the hugely successful RE for the Home “An eclectic mix of the raRE, REmarkable, REcycled, REscued and REstored – furniture and objects for the home”, are nestled down a side street surrounded by antique shops.
You’ll find beautiful gifts and jewellery in Acanthus and think of any object for the household and find it in The Corbridge Cookshop a true “Arkwrights” of our time! There’s so much more from independent jewellers, Artisan bakeries to clothing and footwear shops, there’s definitely retail therapy to be had for all!
Again the choice is plenty! We have cosy cafes such as Spokes who specialise is feeding hungry cyclists but are happy feeding us all too. They always have yummy daily specials, amazing homemade cakes and a hearty breakfast on offer. The Angel is a bar, restaurant and small hotel. They serve great food and a lovely range of wines and local beers and offer a private dining area for small parties. They also have the The Angelfish on site too, a fantastic take away fish and chip shop. The Corbridge Larder is always worth a visit, with it’s upstairs cafe selling fantastic lunches and sharing boards and a downstairs deli and shop selling local and artisan produce to the villagers.
More information on Corbridge can be found at here and you can check out Twenty Princess Street and see photographs and floorpans here.
